Day one of service at Casa Ronald in Campinas (the Brazilian equivalent of a Ronald McDonald House). We arrived at 9:00 a.m., everyone eager to start our first day of service in Brazil. We had a tour of the house and the new annex that was under construction. Then we were introduced to the program and to the staff. Then we ate lunch with some of the guests (cancer patients) and their relatives. After lunch we broke into groups to help organize their library and help with the organization of their pantry. We ended our day at 5:00 p.m. and made our way back to our host families.
What a great start!
The staff at Casa Ronald were incredibly impressed with the hard work of the kids.
The area looks so lush, green and beautiful – enjoy the warm weather! I hope everyone works hard at Casa Ronald and shows them the best aspects of our community. Thanks Carol (and family) for setting up this unique opportunity for our school. Have fun everyone, but be good!
